Dot is at a new school. It is so hard to make friends at a new school, especially when your classmates think pet tortoises are boring. So you do the next best thing. You think of what your tortoise can be instead. A tortosaurus is just the animal to break the ice and make new friends in a new school and town.
The illustrations are bright and colorful. The cutest part of the book was when Dot taped construction paper onto Monty to make him the coolest creature of her dreams. This book has a really positive message to that you can be yourself and still make friends without making up stories. My sister really enjoyed this book and this will be read frequently.
