A long time ago, a country called Poland was taken over by bad people in a different country, and they killed a bunch of innocent people because they were Jewish. They killed and hurt thousands of people! The Story of World War II Hero Irena Sendler talks about a lady named Irena who helped save a bunch of Jewish kids. She hid them in trucks and grocery stores and helped them find new homes. She kept lists of everyone she saved, which was cool. Most of their parents eventually died, which was really sad. I didn’t understand all the words, but the glossary helped. It’s a sad story, but also happy because Irena saved them.
