The Stars Beneath Our Feet
This book is about a boy who is twelve years old. His name is Wallace, but he goes by Lolly. His older brother, Jermaine, was just shot dead recently. He is struggling with the truth of his brother not being with him anymore. It gets to a point where he becomes depressed. He does have one way of dealing with it, though. He constructs Lego buildings. He loves Legos. They take his mind off the things that he is pondering, and he just gets the feeling of accomplishment afterwards. He learns to deal with his depression until it finally goes away. After, he makes a new friend, and together they both help solve each other’s problems. The characters in this story were very lifelike, and it felt like these were real people. I think ages thirteen and up would be able to understand this book. I recommend that you read this book, and I cannot wait to read more books by this author. I say you should read this book if you like a good story with a heartwarming ending!
