Looking for a funny, outrageous way to survive middle school? Then let me introduce you to Max Corrigan, the main character in The Secrets to Ruling School who breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to you, the reader. Max will teach you how to survive middle school in five days by showing you how to get into all seven major cliques – the Nerds, the Jocks, the Preps, the Artists, the Band Geeks, the Tough Kids, and the Class Clowns. Basically, the moral of the story is, if you can get everyone to like you, you can survive middle school. The plot is a bit over the top since the solution is a complicated string of favors that is just too good to be true, but it’s very funny. In fact, the entire book is one big joke with a lot of funny pictures, and that’s what makes it so good. It even has some hands on things like fake scar recipes and how to forge signatures. If you like James Patterson’s Middle School series and you’re a big fan of bathroom jokes, you’ll love this book.
