The Search for Snake River
This choose-your-own-trail adventure is about a pioneer family headed to Oregon. There are many different trails, but only one set will lead safely down the Oregon Trail. There are also many dangerous choices, such as taking a desert shortcut or encountering a venomous snake.
There are many interesting historical facts in the story that shed light on what life was like for pioneer families. The reader will learn about some Native American cultures, and how they helped settlers along their way.
Since this is book three in a series of four, the reader will have to read all four books to see the family’s entire journey from Kentucky to Oregon; however, this book is awesome to read all by itself!
There are some gross parts in the book, like when the hot springs causes extreme skin burns on someone, or when a person’s teeth fall out from scurvy (which I learned is caused by lack of fresh fruits and vegetables on the trail).
Overall, I found this book to be challenging and fun, and I would recommend it to everyone!
