The Pencil
The Pencil is a story about people living in an igloo. The story teaches us to use things wisely. In the book, the family only has a few belongings, and one of the special things is a pencil. Usually the kids aren’t allowed to use the pencil, but one day their dad Ataata got out the pencil for them to draw with. They filled a page with drawings; they felt very special and had fun. I learned several words because this culture is new to me. The pictures were not my favorite, but they did a good job helping explain the story and showing how the people were feeling. This book is best for ages 8 and up because big kids can understand the meaning of the story better. But little kids might like it too for different reasons.
