The Neptune Challenge is a book that keeps you reading. In it, a girl named Nere helps her friends. All of them are the products of a science experiment that attempts to make human life in the ocean possible. After one of Nere’s friends gets kidnapped by an evil scientist who wants to create more mutants. To rescue their friend and possibly save the oceans, Nere and her friends have to sneak into a secret lab and get their friends back.
I liked how this book had a lot of action and suspense. I also enjoyed the science fiction aspects and the futuristic technology. Another thing I liked is how some of the characters can have interactions with animals by speaking to them. Nere and her friends can telepathically communicate which I think is pretty cool. I would have changed how descriptive the book is about the evil characters so they weren’t quite as horrifying. I also disliked how the bad guy and his most evil mutant escape. I wanted them to have a final face off at the end because I like closure.
