The Mystery of the Zorse’s Mask (The Curious Cat Spy Club)
The Mystery of the Zorse’s Mask is the second book in The Curious Spy Cat Club mystery series by Linda Joy Singleton. Becca, Kesley, and Leo are friends. Becca lives on an animal sanctuary and one of the animals that lives there is a zorse named Zed. A zorse is a cross between a horse and a zebra.
In this new mystery Zed’s owner has come to take Zed back. Kesley, Becca, and Leo think Caleb Hunter, the owner, was the man who had hurt Zed in the past. The three kids have two days to solve the mystery because that is when Caleb will be back, and Zed will be gone for good. On top of all this Caleb wants the fancy fly mask that Zed was wearing when he came to live at Becca’s sanctuary. The fly mask has an interesting history that plays a part in the mystery.
This book has lots of suspense and some of the events were surprising, but not too crazy. The story moves at a good pace and has well developed characters. The characters continue their development from the first book in the series. It would be helpful to have read the first book in the series to understand the characters a little better but you can pick up this book and begin reading and not be too lost.
It was a fun book to read and it would be good for readers ages 8 to 12.
