The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials: The Collector’s Edition (Maze Runner, Book One and Book Two) (The Maze Runner Series)
If you want a fast-paced, high-stakes adventure, The Maze Runner is your book. Thomas wakes up in a metal box with no memories of his last name or his previous life. He is quickly introduced to the Glade, an agrarian community made up of teenage boys. He also quickly learns that he and the other boys are, in effect, trapped in the Glade, as a sprawling, gigantic maze bars access to the outside world. Terrifying mechanical creatures live in the maze, along with unsolved mysteries that threaten to uproot their present, past, and future.
The Maze Runner is saturated with mystery, suspense, horror, and adventure and had enough plot twists to keep me on the edge of my seat. The Collector’s Edition was a lucky catch, since it includes the first two books, and I didn’t have to wait in suspense to find out what happens to Thomas and the other characters at the end of the first book. The Collector’s Edition also comes with special bonus material that presents the perspectives of the forces outside of Thomas’ world in the ultimate scheme.
