The Magnificent Migration: On Safari with Africa’s Last Great Herds
In The Magnificent Migration On Safari with Africa’s Last Great Herds, Sy Montgomery tells of the safari she took to follow gnu, also known as wildebeests. Readers will learn about the underrated animals of Africa. Readers of The Magnificant Migration On Safari with Africa’s last Great Herds will learn about the complex life of wildebeest herds and how these animals help Africa’s ecosystem. At the end of some of the chapters, readers will learn about other animals that migrate such as the Arctic tern that migrates forty-four thousand miles from pole to pole. It isn’t as easy to find the wildebeest herds as shown on documentaries. This book isn’t all facts like many nonfiction books. There is a suspenseful part when the car Sy Montgomery and a group of scientists are driving in breaks down. Readers will hold their breath as they read this part. The group must repair the car before night and before hyenas and lions come out to eat. The Magnificent Migration On Safari with Africa’s Last Great Herds contains amazing photos of wildebeest, other African animals, and beautiful African landscapes taken by Roger and Logan Wood. Upper elementary school-age kids would enjoy this book.
