The Luck Uglies #2: Fork-Tongue Charmers
In this book, Rye meets a Luck Ugly named Slinister, a Fork-Tongue Charmer. Soon after they meet, a new constable arises who is very stern and wicked. He puts terrible consequences to even a minor crime that is not really harmful. So to protect their family, Rye’s father, who is the Luck Ugly chief, sends them to her mother’s hometown, Pest, which Rye grows to love. While there, Rye begins finding little black stones everywhere, which mean something mysterious; and she hasn’t escaped Slinister, who has more to do with her family’s troubles than she thought. Rye also has to find a way to get rid of Earl Longchance once again.
This book kept you on your toes, wondering the next thing that was going to happen, because it never gave anything away. It was fun to try to figure out the mystery before you read on. It had a surprising plot twist at the end, where the characters were suddenly seen in a new light. I hope there is another book in this series that comes out soon, because these books are really fun and I like them a lot!
