The Lost Duckling

The Lost Duckling is part of the Animal Rescue Center series by Tina Nolan. Ella and Caleb are a sister and brother who manage Animal Magic Rescue with their parents. One morning Ella walks her dog and sees a family of ducks. The dog starts to chase the ducks. Ella stops the dog from catching any of the ducklings. Later on Ella goes back to look for the duckling whom she names Daisy. She finds another duck family, but not Daisy’s. Ella worries when she doesn’t see Daisy’s family for a long time. Her mom thinks the ducks moved somewhere else. Later on in the car, Ella sees the family of ducks crossing the road. They have to stop before they hit the ducks. Later the ducks end up in Mrs. Elliot’s huge pond, but Mrs. Elliot’s cat, Tigger, gets out of her house and scares the smallest duckling. Daisy hides in some rose bushes for a long time, but Ella doesn’t give up.

This is a chapter book for young children who are comfortable starting to read longer books. The print is big enough to read easily, and each page is not too long. Kids who like ducks will like this book because there is a lot about ducks.
