The Little Book of Big What-Ifs

This book does not really tell a story. Each illustration shows a different ‘what-if’ situation, like what if there are too many choices, like in an ice cream shop with lots of different flavors so that it is hard to choose one. Or what if you go into a store that only sells one thing, like bananas? The characters in the pictures are all animals. One little bear is in almost every picture. Because bears are born in the winter during hibernation, the little bear sleeps through her or his birthday. Later in the book, other animals bring the bear a birthday cake to celebrate.

People that are just starting to read can read this book. I can read most of it myself, but I needed help with some of the long words. It’s a good length. I like the illustrations, and the foods make me feel hungry. In one picture everybody is wearing headphones, and nobody can hear each other. In another picture, nobody is wearing headphones, and the animals are showing each other what they wrote in their journals and sharing. It shows the animals being nice to each other and helping each other. The last page says, “What a difference that would make!” because if we were nicer to each other, that would change everything.
