The Kids’ Book of Simple Machines: Cool Projects & Activities that Make Science Fun!
This is a book about all kinds of simple machines and how you can make your own machine. So I wouldn’t give this book five whole stars because it’s not really a story. It’s still a good book and it’s about science which I love because my daddy teaches science! There aren’t really any characters in this book, except for Rube Goldberg at the end. There are lots of pictures in this book that show you how to make things like screws and spinning spoons! There are six simple machines in this book: wheel and axel, a wedge, a screw, a lever, a pulley, and an inclined plane. A line from this book that I liked is, “People have used wedges for thousands of years!” I was in a play about science superheroes and we used simple machines to solve problems. So it was fun to see some of the simple machines I learned about in this book. It is great that this book includes history as well as experiments: “The Mesopotamians were probably the first people to use simple rope pulleys to lift water.” If you like science, you will want to read this book.
