The Jungle Book: Manga Classics
Mowgli was raised by wolves in the jungles of India. His enemy was the tiger Shere Khan, who Mowgli eventually had to defeat. The cool thing about The Jungle Book, the real book by Rudyard Kipling, not the movie, is that Mowgli is friends with just about every animal in the jungle except Shere Khan, and he still has lots of amazing adventures. This Manga book keeps the story pretty close to the original book. And just like the original, it includes some stories that aren’t about Mowgli, although they are very fun, like the story of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, the mongoose, and the story of Kotic, the white seal.
The pictures tell the story really well as you read. If you are not familiar with manga, it takes a little time to get used to because you read the pages from right to left, so it is a little different, but you get used to it pretty fast. One thing I really like about this book is its pages are perfect for coloring, so you can make the book your own. This is a great introduction to the classic Jungle Book story that fans of Mowgli are sure to enjoy!
