The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora
Arturo Zamora is a kid who lives in Miami. He works at his family’s restaurant, La Cocina de la Isla. They want to expand the restaurant, but Wilfrido Pipo wants to build his own building there. It would be a nice place if it wasn’t so bad for the community. It will destroy the local shops, including La Cocina de la Isla. Will the Zamoras get to renew their lease? Read the book to find out.
I really liked this book because it was emotional. This book was suspenseful. There are sad parts. There are a few funny parts. This book talks about human rights, immigrants, gentrification, and community. José Martí was a poet. He inspires a lot of the people in the book. Vanessa is one of my favorite characters because of her activism. I like Abuela, because she is really kind to all the people in the community.
Everyone in the book speaks Spanish. The book wasn’t hard to understand. There weren’t any pictures in the book. I wish there was a picture of Arturo in his superhero costume. I like the epilogue. I would have liked this book a lot less without the epilogue. There are recipes in the back of the book. I would like to go to a restaurant like La Cocina de la Isla.
