The Dino Files #1: A Mysterious Egg (A Stepping Stone Book(TM))

Frank is staying with his grandparents. They are palaeontologists. They own a museum. Frank loves palaeontology. They find a dinosaur egg. It has a live dinosaur in it. It breaks out. Frank feeds the baby dinosaur carrots by chewing them up and spitting them back out for the dinosaur. (It is an herbivore.) Frank calls it Peanut, after its horn. The egg was found at the neighbor’s place, so Frank is afraid the neighbors will take Peanut. He tries to keep it a secret, but Peanut destroys everything in Frank’s room. His cousin, Sam, takes pictures of the dinosaur, too. (Sam thinks she is a star. She carries around a camera and a microphone.). Read the book to find out if the neighbors take Peanut.

This book was exciting. My favorite character is Saurus, Frank’s cat. Saurus is lazy. Instead of walking, he gets pushed around in a kiddie cart all the time. Saurus is also nice. My least favorite character is the neighbor dad. He wants to make a fortune out of the dinosaur. That’s the worst idea! The illustrations are okay. I like them. There are a bunch of dinosaur words in the back. I didn’t learn anything new about dinosaurs from this book, but somebody else might.
