The Day I Became a Bird
This is a story about a little boy who falls in love on his first day of school. The girl’s name is Sylvia, and she loves birds. She cannot bear to see them living in cages, and she takes care of them when they are hurt.
The boy decides to dress up like a bird so that Sylvia will notice him. He makes a large bird costume with shiny feathers. He wears the costume to school, and some of the kids laugh at him. But the boy does not care.
Will the bird costume get Sylvia’s attention? Will she finally notice the little boy who has tried so hard to get her attention?
This story is about love, which I think is gross. Maybe I will not always think it is gross, but for now…I think the boy should be happy with playing soccer and climbing trees.
Overall, I liked this story, and the pictures are pretty. My favorite picture is the one where Sylvia is drawing bird pictures and writes the names of the birds beside them.
