This is the story about a bird who flies around and cheers up lots of different animals who don’t feel very happy. In The Cheer-Up Bird, all of the animals are the characters. There are wombats, koalas, emus, and even a kangaroo. What happens throughout this picture book is that the different animals all get cheered up by the Cheer-Up Bird. The pictures in this book are color paintings. I read this book with my Daddy, and he thinks that this book is set in Australia. The different colors makes Cheer-Up Bird look very bright and memorable. Make sure to read the whole book! The reason? There is a neat plot twist with a lesson at the end of this book. I really liked everything about this book. One line I liked in particular is, “Up in the eucalyptus tree the koala bears were wondering why they have to climb.” At the zoo in my city, there are koalas and I like to visit them. It was fun to read a book with animals that I can see in real life. This book would be nice for younger boys and girls who like animals.
