The Buddy Bench
The Buddy Bench is an adorable story about a little boy who makes a new friend in odd Texan snow. No one expected to see snow on an early morning at school in Texas. Very few children wanted to go outside and play so when the little boy is lonely, he decides to sit on the buddy bench on the playground, determined to find a new friend. Along comes a little girl, Shae, and she is willing to play anything because she used to live in a place that got snow often. Shae told him how to make snowballs and snow forts and how to play put the carrot on the snowman. It turns out sitting on the buddy bench was the best thing the little boy could’ve done that day because he not only met a new friend, but learned some fun ways to play in the snow, and he learned that you never know what another kid might know or how you can learn from them. The sweet story of meeting new friends and the vivid illustrations help children to realize the buddy bench isn’t such a scary place, but a place to find a new adventure and a new friend. The back of the book has tons of helpful tips on how to use the buddy bench and how to make new friends.
