The Big History Timeline Wallbook: Unfold the History of the Universe―from the Big Bang to the Present Day!
The best part by far of the The Big History Timeline Wallbook is the six-foot timeline! It has so much detail it even comes with a magnifying sheet. I was tempted to take the timeline out (it has perforation) and put it on my wall, but I wanted to keep it nice. They use pictures and color to make it very interesting, and there is a lot of text with extra information on the timeline.
The second half of the book is The Wallbook Chronicle, which is supposed to be like a newspaper, including articles and letters to the editor and also a quiz that you should be able to find answers to in the rest of the book. I’ve read other history books with fake newspapers, and they were funnier and better written than these. I didn’t learn a lot from the articles, and the pictures in this section aren’t as detailed as those on the timeline.
I recommend this book to history lovers and anyone studying history. It would be a good reference for kids seven and up, but you have to have some idea of where or when things happened in order to find them on the timeline! Also the quiz is pretty challenging!
