The Bear, the Piano, the Dog, and the Fiddle is a story about music, friendship, and love. Hector, an old man, has a fiddle. He is too old to play, so he stores it away. Hector gets bored and sleeps a lot because he’s old. Hugo, the dog, tries out the fiddle. Hector wakes up and he sees Hugo playing the fiddle. Hugo joins Bear’s Big Band. Hector says something mean to Hugo that he didn’t mean because he was jealous. Hector misses him so he goes to the show to see Hugo perform on stage. They play on stage together. I like that Hector and Hugo are still friends even if they are sad and mad at each other. I thought it was nice that Hugo let Hector be up on stage. I like the illustrations and the colors used by David Litchfield. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories about friendship and music.
