The Bamboo Sword is about a Japanese boy named Yoshi. He desperately wants to be a samurai, but the samurai teacher doesn’t let him because he is a stable boy. Yoshi will not give up to that, so whenever a samurai class was held outside he would grab his bamboo sword and imitate the samurai master’s moves. The other samurai students laughed at him while he practiced. Soon after, Yoshi gets hired by a man named Manjiro so he can earn money. One night he is standing outside in an alleyway while Manjiro eats inside the restaurant. While standing there he hears hushed voices saying they will eliminate Manjiro! So after that he spies on those people and he figures out that they are the mean samurai that laughed at him! So he thwarts them and manages to save him!

The plot of this story was very charming. The characters were very sensible in this tale. This tale kept my interest throughout the story. Kids from age 10 and up would enjoy this book. If you like samurai stories read this journey!
