The Adventure of the Plated Spoon and Other Tales of Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Plated Spoon and Other Tales of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of stories about Sherlock Holmes by different authors, and one story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I had a dictionary with me to look up many words I did not know, like “spiritualist” and “steward.” There are 12 stories, and each story is not very long. One was written by the author of Peter Pan, which is one of my favorite children’s books. Another story that was my favorite was a realistic fiction story about the Titanic ship. I could picture the whole tale in my head as I was reading! I think this book would be appropriate for someone in middle school and up. Smaller children may need help from their parents to understand the definitions of the bigger words. It would be easier for someone who has read the original Sherlock Holmes stories by Doyle to compare those writings with the stories from these authors. I would like to write a mystery about Sherlock Holmes when I am a little bigger.
