Task Force (Recon Team Angel #2)
After the devastating assault on Uluru, Task Force Angel takes a few months to recover from their losses and betrayal from within. However, humanity has need of them yet. In order to delay the Bzadians’ assault across the Bering Straight, Task Force Angel is assigned to destroy the dam powering the Bzadians’ hydrogen cell factory. As the task force delves deeper and deeper into enemy territory, they face hostile Bzadians, they fear additional betrayal, and must decide whether to fail in their mission or sacrifice everything they hold dear.
I think I prefer the first book to this book, but this book is still a great read. This one was quite similar to its predecessor, but as the first one was so enjoyable, I won’t complain! I liked that the characters evolved from the first book; that was a nice touch. The constant fear of betrayal was kind of wearing. The action sequences were engaging and realistically presented, as far as science fiction can be. I also like the vivid setting of a highly unified culture that took over the humans’ heavily industrialized one, and adapted it to their less peaceful but more environmentally-friendly own.
