Tallulah’s Tap Shoes
I love to tap dance! I take tap lessons every week at a theatre. Some of my favorite steps are my flaps and my flap-ball-changes. In this book, the character Tallulah doesn’t know how to tap. She likes ballet the best. Tallulah starts tap class at dance camp but she says, “This is baby stuff.” I disagreed with that because I know that the people who are after me in tap class are not babies! They are grown-ups and teenagers. So I know that tap is not easy. Tallulah learns that different kinds of dance can be fun. She even makes a new friend with Kacie, who tells her, “If you keep practicing, you’ll get better. Then you might love it.” Kacie hates ballet, but she loves tap. Guess what? I love tap AND ballet! The illustrations in this book show pictures of Tallulah and other kids dancing. They look like watercolors. I like how the illustrations look soft. Kids who enjoy tap and ballet will like this book, but they might be surprised that Tallulah doesn’t like tap at first!
