Rainbow has been out of his mom’s pouch for only six months. Rainbow’s mom tells him that it is time he should be Independent, that he should spend the rest of his life on his own. Even though Rainbow doesn’t want to leave his mom, she knows best, so he’s up for the challenge. In the forest that Rainbow lives in, it is the hottest and driest the forest has ever gotten. The most scary thing of all is that he has to survive his first bushfire.

I loved this book as much as I loved the art, the blending of a gorgeous story and beautiful drawings. My favorite character in the book is the bird who would find Rainbow, and pluck off some of his fur so he could use it to make his nest. My favorite part was when a house dog thought Rainbow was a burglar. I think that Remy Lai did a very good job drawing the fire and animals. I recommend this book to anyone who likes koalas or animals.
