It all starts when Stella Batts, her sister, Penelope, her parents, and baby brother are sitting in a restaurant. Penelope is singing and Stella decides to join her. And then the trouble starts. While Stella is singing, a casting director comes in. He helps with Stella’s favorite show and he decides she’s perfect for a new episode they want to make. When they go to audition, both girls get a chance. Guess who gets to be on the show? Her sister! Stella is very, very, very jealous. And all of the sudden, she’s not so excited about getting to see her favorite show being made anymore. But then, something happens. Her sister no longer wants to be the one on the show; she’s too nervous. The casting director decides it would be perfect for Stella to take her place. She feels kind of bad for her little sister though, and so with a little bit of big-sister-inspiration, Penelope is able to do the show. And Stella gets to be in it after all, as an extra.

I like books that are from the first person point of view. That allows me to know how Stella feels, like I’m inside her head. It’s like she’s talking to you but no one else can hear her. I could totally be friends with this person. It’s a funny book too. For instance, “spite her face” becomes “spider face”. This book is full of big sister and little sister feelings, like love and jealousy. And in the end, everything turns out happy. It is truly a happily ever after.
