Description
Aria is spending her first summer with her NaiNai in the foggy and hilly city of San Francisco. NaiNai owns and operates a neighborhood boba cafe, so Aria helps out daily at the cafe. NaiNai is keeping a secret though. She mysteriously disappears to the storage closet late every evening, and Aria is not allowed to go in. What is NaiNai doing in the secret room, and why is she keeping this secret from Aria?
I really liked this graphic novel because it involved two of my favorite things: boba and cats! I loved reading a story based on boba. Aria is so lucky to have a grandmother who owns a boba cafe with a cat (every girl’s dream). The story was super fun, and I was surprised by the fantasy element. It was a nice and unexpected twist to the story. The art was super fun and bright which matched the storyline. I loved all the wonderful San Francisco illustrations and references. I also loved all the SF food mentioned in the story -ramen, burritos, dim-sum, pastries, curries. Recommended to all boba, cat, foodie, and graphic novel lovers!
