Stubby the Fearless Squid

Stubby the fearful squid wants to be more adventurous and come out of his cave, so he decides he needs a pen pal. Stubby was brave and wrote a letter to his pen pal, but then revised the letter so he didn’t sound like a scared squid. Finally, when stubby get a letter back from his new pen pal, Razor, he realized he may have made a mistake. Stubby perseveres and writes back to Razor, telling him about all the adventures he had that week. Razor and Stubby share their adventures with one another until Stubby gets terrifying news, Razor is coming to visit and wants to go on daring adventures with Stubby. What will Stubby do?

This book is a wonderful book to help kids overcome fears and feel brave. Sometimes just pretending to be brave and daring helps one to build confidence. The water-color like illustrations in this book are colorful and fun. The illustrations help show how brave Stubby wishes he was and hopes to be. The book is well written and also helps children to learn how to write letters to pen pals.
