Essie has a stable, if not happy, life. She programs bots to mine for ore on a remote, icy planet far from her native home. She figures that, as long as no one bothers her, she is happy. But one day, her entire life is shaken when a stranger crash lands and she is the only one who can fix his ship. Usually not one to help strangers, she nevertheless helps this man because she has never felt so attracted to anyone in this way before. But he kidnaps her, and Essie must overcome her distrust and resolve her feelings while she is thrust into a conflict to overthrow the evil king and free her people.

I liked this book. It was an interesting take on the Snow White story. I liked how it wasn’t just a retelling of the tale – Snow White was the basis, but the rest of the story was its own. It was fast paced with lots of action and exciting plot twists; I also liked the characters and their struggles. Well-written and highly engaging, I absolutely recommend it to teen readers who want action with a touch of romance.
