Star Scouts
As the new kid in school and as the most unenthusiastic member of her new scout troop, Flower Scouts, Avani isn’t fitting in very well. This is especially true since she has no interest in earning badges for make-up and chatting about cute boys. But she’s got a feeling that will all change when she is accidentally teleported to space. There she meets a friendly Zirdonian named Mabel, who is a member of Star Scouts. Once Avani joins Star Scouts and goes to Camp Andromeda, she realizes she may actually fit in.
This is a very colorful graphic novel. The pictures are so well drawn that I can not only understand what the characters are doing, but I can almost see them moving. Another thing I like is all the other-worldly characters. The teachers and the other scouts are very odd, but I liked looking at them. And the activities she does at camp are really cool, like using jetpacks and lasers. There is a little bullying, boasting, competition, and some rudeness at camp. If this bothers you, you may not want to read it. But it is full of adventure and friendship. If you like space, graphic novels, and aliens, this is the book for you!
