This book is about a kid named Billy. His dad left him when he was a small child. One day, he finds a check from his dad, who lives in Montana. He flies to Montana where he meets his dad’s new family. His new wife tells him that his dad works for the government. One day they go on a hike, and Billy meets his dad’s drone. It gives him a note that says his dad will meet him back at his house. When they meet, his dad tells him he doesn’t actually work for the government, and that he is really tracking a poacher who is trying to kill a Florida panther. Billy says he will help him.

Squirm has lots of twists and turns. This book is funny, and it sends out a good message about protecting animals. There are some guns and a tiny bit of strong language. I like this book. It has educational value. I learned about Native Americans, snakes, bears, Florida panthers, and fly fishing. I think this book is good for people ten and up.
