This book gives an introduction to twenty-three different sports like baseball, basketball, and cricket. The author also illustrated the book. The sharp, bright pictures are creative and look great. There are lots of arrows showing the path of the balls, bats, and even athletes. I learned that in fencing you have to wear a body wire, the different positions of athletes in basketball, and how long a football field is. There are so many funny details in this book, including the expressions of the athletes and the animal spectators. In the middle of the book, there are two pages of “half-time” that ask the reader activity questions. The answers to these questions are in the back of the book. There is a one-page glossary of sports words at the end of the book. Also at the end of the book, there are brief descriptions of each sport. The author’s note written in the sports jersey and the table of contents written inside a soccer field both look good. This book can be appropriate for ages five and up.
