Spooky Fairy Tale Mix-up: Hundreds of Flip-Flap Stories
The title of this book does a great job of explaining its contents! Each “page” is three separate flaps that can be flipped independently of one another. The book takes all the classic fairy tale stories, such as “Rapunzel,” “Thumbelina,” and “Hansel and Gretel,” and puts a spooky spin on them. The reader can change the characters in each story and what is happening to them. It is so much fun to take the original story and turn it into something even more silly!
This book is not really scary. It would even be appropriate for very young children. There are skeletons, eyeballs, spiders, and bats, but they are illustrated in such a silly way that nobody would actually be scared of the pictures. In fact, I loved the detailed pictures. It is hilarious how Mother Goose has long red claws!
This would be a fantastic gift for kids at Halloween or any time of year if you know kids who like a good scary and silly story! I have a lot of favorite parts, so I can’t list them all, but one example is how Goldilocks is called Ghostilocks!
