Spidermania: Friends on the Web
This book is all about spiders. You can learn a lot more about spiders than you can from most spider books, and it talks about different kinds of spiders. And the thing that is the most fun about it is you can learn about their habitats and what they look like. There are lots of pictures that are from a microscope so you can see what they look like really close up. You learn that spiders with different designs are more dangerous, like an hourglass shape is on a black widow, which is one of the few spiders that have venom powerful enough to hurt people. By looking at the eyes you can tell which family spiders are in, but you have to look at its design or what it does to know exactly which spider it is. One interesting spider is a diving bell spider, which traps air in the hairs on its legs and lives all of its life underwater. You also learn a lot about spider silk, and how it is stronger than steel. Spiders make lots of different types of silk that you learn about. If you like science and learning you will like this book!
