SnowPal Soccer

Description

SnowPal Soccer is the story of two friends who, on the eve of the Winter Solstice, each build a snowman, then make a wish for them to come to life and play a game of soccer (and each secretly wishes for theirs to win). Their wishes come true, and the friends are pleased to be woken up by the snowmen’s fun, but with everything happening throughout the night, the question stands – who won?

SnowPal Soccer is more of a simple story, but it works well for younger readers. The text can be understood by most readers, and the author includes English and Spanish words side-by-side on each page, making the story more inclusive, or educational for those unfamiliar with either language, to become acquainted. The illustrations enhance the story not just as illustrations, but they are unique in their style – each page is a picture created from fabrics, making it seem life-like, but remaining in 2D. They remind me of the illustrations from Lois Ehlert (Leaf Man, Snowballs), which are books usually found among younger readers.
