Snickerdoodle Takes the Cake
Many kids have been in a situation like this: early in the morning, Snickerdoodle, the bunny main character, sees the cake his mom baked for his grandmother’s birthday party. A note reads: Do Not Touch. After Snickerdoodle accidentally ruins the birthday cake, he has to help his mom fix it. Unfortunately, his brother and sister already found the smashed cake and tasted it, too. Not very much cake is left for his grandma. Snickerdoodle has an idea to save the day; the only trouble is that he likes cake so much! Snickerdoodle ends up hiding in the bathtub, which is my favorite place to hide from my mom, too.
Snickerdoodle Takes the Cake is a good book to read out loud. There are lots of sounds in the book to act out, like “clink,” “gurgle,” “blub,” “splat,” “yum,” and “Aaaaaaa!” The illustrations are cheerful. The characters are all rabbits except for the little pet dog. The characters’ expressions show what they are thinking. The colors are bright and pretty. I think Snickerdoodle and I are a lot alike when we get in trouble. Any kid with a serious sweet tooth will like this book.
