Small Speckled Egg (Start Small, Think Big, 1)

Which came first, the egg or the bird? While this book doesn’t exactly answer that question, it does tell the story of an Artic Tern’s lifespan. So, in a sense, you could say the bird came first and laid an egg, and this book follows a small bird and how it grows up. Then it looks at how the bird migrates to survive and complete the circle of life.

This was a really cute book. The illustrations were pale colored to illustrate the Artic landscape/biome where the Tern lives. I really liked the informative text about the birds’ life and migration. I think it would be cool to have a series of books like this about different animals and their lives. A great informative book to read with the whole family.
