Small Blue and the Deep Dark Night

This is a sweet story about a little bunny named Small Blue that is afraid of all the scary things she imagines are lurking in the dark. Her friend Big Brown the bear helps her by telling her that maybe the goblins she is imagining are really delightful doggies and the spiders and bats are really smiley spacemen. Small Blue learns to imagine the things she can’t see in a different, less scary way.

I really liked this book. I would read it over and over again and recommend it to everyone. I think it will help kids who are afraid of the dark. They can read this book and then remember Small Blue and Big Brown when they are afraid. They can try to imagine retired pirates knitting socks instead of witches and skeletons and then they won’t be so scared. My favorite quote from the book was, “…how do you know it wasn’t a delightful doggies’ Saturday-night unicycle convention?” That part and the pictures made me smile.
