Shelter
“Shelter” is about a brother, a sister, a mother, and father who is very abusive to his wife and when people don’t do what he wants, he makes you wish you hadn’t crossed him. Everybody but the father leave the home to stay at a battered women’s shelter while the father is at work. The sister’s boyfriend sides with her father and when she breaks up with him, he starts to stalk her to find out where she is living. When the mother gets a restraining order against the father, he doesn’t like it so he starts harassing the mom all even more.
My favorite part of this book was when they went to court for the custody of the children but the father loses because he wouldn’t keep his mouth shut when he was supposed to. What I didn’t like about this book is when the father hurt the mom, punched her and was mean to her because dads are supposed to protect their kids and not hurt them. The wife was smart to get away from him even though it was hard and scary because now she’ll be safe and so will her kids.
I rate this book a 5!
