Shadow: The Cougar Of Flat Creek
Shadow is about a wild cougar that is looking for a new home. She is grown up and is ready to leave her mother and brother. Shadow needs a home with plenty of room to hunt away from people. She meets an orphaned cougar. His mother died before he knew how to hunt. The orphan tries to eat trash outside people’s houses. A hunter sees him and shoots him. Shadow runs away. The hunter sees her and tries to find her, but it is too late. The cougar already gets away. Shadow finds a new home. No hunters go there. It’s a very happy ending, and the cougar kittens are cute. It’s a good book.
I like all the different animals in the pictures. The paintings have lots of birds and other animals like badgers and chipmunks in them. The colors remind me of being out in the woods, and the paintings are full of shadows, where Shadow the cougar can hide! People who want to protect nature and wild animals will like this book.
