This book is about a group of friends having to bring a dish to the community center to celebrate the fall harvest. So they go to the farm to make apple pie. The farm is full of healthy foods, like vegetables, that you need in order to grow and stay healthy. There are eggs from chickens that contain protein, and dairy from cows and goats that give us calcium for strong bones and teeth. Then they pick apples from the trees. Picking up and eating fresh fruit from trees is one of my favorite things; I do that a lot when I visit my grandparents in the summer. Most of the time, I eat food that is coming from far away in big trucks. The group of friends also needs to get some food from the shop: sugar, cinnamon, and other things that don’t grow on the farm. Then they bake the apple pie. At the end they compost all the apple peels to make compost for the soil. There’s a recipe in the book and I’ll ask my mom to make it, but other than that I found this book quite boring.
