Secrets of Winter (A Shine-a-light Book)
This book is awesome. I like it a lot; more than almost any other book. It has really beautiful pictures of things that happen in the winter, things that animals happen to do in the winter. It shows you all these different animals and what they do, like deer will hide beneath an evergreen tree, or a frog will hide under a rock (but if the frog gets frozen, it can thaw and still be alive). There are birds that eat berries, and the berries grow in the winter. Fish will stay near the bottom of a lake where it’s warmer, and of course bears will hibernate.
This book is different from other books about the winter because you can hold each page up to the light or use a flashlight behind the page and you will see a hidden picture shine through the page. The book is not very long, but at the end, you can read a little bit more about the way the animals survive the winter, like by using shelter or finding food or changing color. I love this book.
