School Days Around the World
This book describes what children do in schools in different countries in a first-person narrative. I learned about a boarding school, an international school, and home school. The colors in the illustrations of this book are fantastic and earthy. I like the quote from the Nobel Prize–winner Malala Yousafzai. There are two pages where the author shows all the people from different countries who will share about their schools. The school in Denmark would be fun since you can play in the snow at recess. It does not snow where we live in Texas. The school in Cook Island in the South Pacific would also be fun because your school might be by the ocean and you may see ocean animals. I felt sad to read about one boy whose parents died so he was living in an orphanage. The author gives suggestions for activities in the back of the book, as well a glossary. There are other Around the World books I want to read. This book would be interesting and appropriate for six years and up.
