Sashi, the Scared Little Sheltie

Sashi use to chase bikes, cars, and everything that moved, because she wasn’t properly trained. She would herd children like sheep! Sashi’s owners no longer wanted her, so they left her in a shelter.

If someone left me in a shelter, I would feel sad, lonely, and very scared! Visitors came to the shelter each day, but nobody chose to take Sashi home.

A woman named Anita from the Shetland Sheepdog Rescue organization came to take Sashi until they could find her a forever home. Then, Sashi met Anna and her mom, her new family.

On a walk, Sashi barked at a flag that was flapping in the wind, because she did not know what to make of it. Then, she barked at a trashcan that had fallen over. She was scared of everything!

It was obvious to her new owners that Sashi had never been trained properly. So, they taught Sashi to “sit” and “check it out” when she was afraid of something new.

At the Sheltie Rescue picnic, Sashi was the fastest sitter, and she won the contest! That was my favorite part!

If you have a dog, you should train your dog, instead of dropping it off at a shelter.

I enjoyed this book because it has nice illustrations, and it is a story with a happy ending!
