Sammy the Shy Kitten
A girl named Emma goes to her horseback riding lessons and wonders about Midnight, the stray cat that lives at the horse stables, since she hasn’t seen her for a few days. One day Emma sees Midnight in an old barn, but she’s not alone. Midnight had kittens. Emma spends a lot of time with Midnight and the kittens. One of the kittens decides that he likes Emma. She names him Sammy. As the kittens are old enough to leave Midnight, Emma wants to bring Sammy home. But her mom is worried that Sammy won’t be a good pet since he was born in the wild.
The story is great! I got to learn about how to care for horses while reading about Sammy’s adventures. I also learned about how to take care of wild kittens. They have to be treated differently since they’ve never lived in a home. The pictures are great, too! The pictures of Sammy are so cute. I especially love the picture of Sammy stretching out in his little bed and when he yawns. If you are looking for good stories about rescue animals, get this book and other books by Holly Webb.
