Room of Shadows
A suspenseful and spooky story about a 13-year-old boy whose life gets turned upside down when his father leaves the family and his mother moves them to a new town. David Cray is angry, very angry. When he moves to an old house, he finds a secret room and a creepy, carved raven that seems to call to him even in his dreams. Violence seems to follow him. Suddenly, something is bringing Edgar Allen Poe’s stories to life via some violent pranks, and David and his friend Libby set out to find out who (or what) is behind all this. The author writes a good story about the power of strong feelings that can cause a great amount of trouble if they get out of control. The plot is not always realistic, but David is a likable character even though his anger is sometimes overpowering. The moral of the story is that sometimes you are your own worst enemy. I recommend this book especially for males between the ages of 11-14 who would enjoy this story best. This story was creepy enough that I could not stop sensing danger around me.
