Description
If I could think of a word to describe Rialto by Kate Milford, it wouldn’t have been invented yet; it’s so amazing. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe it. I liked how it tied into the rest of the books with the folklore.
The book is about two sisters, Ivy and Dahlia, who take a summer trip to Rialto, Missouri, and magic ensues! The theme park is part of the town and in the middle of the woods. Part of the theme park is the woods. (This makes more sense when you read the book.) My favorite scene in the book is the magic cat scene. The sisters mean to distribute their great-aunt’s heirlooms, but later realize that they’ve been on the wrong quest the whole time. If they are going to solve the mystery of Rialto Park, they are going to have to learn to believe in magic.
The mysterious theme park, the impossible creatures, the mystery- there is so much to like about this book that I can’t even explain it. (And I’ve tried!) Mystery and magic combine in the best possible way, just like in other books in the Greenglass House series.
