Rebels of the Lamp, Book 1 Rebels of the Lamp
Parker is a troublemaker, so he’s been sent away to live with his cousins in New Hampshire. There, he and his cousin Theo find a metal canister which they discover contains a genie who will do the bidding of the person who opened it. They also meet a girl named Reese, who helps them as they try to figure out things about the genie. They don’t realize how powerful the genie is and that he has the power to destroy the world.
It was fun to read about the different genies, that some have superpowers and can do anything, but some are restrained and others aren’t—one is good but the others are evil. I liked reading about how Parker dealt with the genie, but he only stopped being a troublemaker because of it. I also liked that the genies had a tether that made them have a headache whenever they got really far from each other. It was thrilling to read about all the discoveries and problems the genie made. Parker didn’t make very good choices at first, but they got better. It will be interesting to see how the story continues in the rest of the series!
